Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
With Dominaria just around the corner, the Rivals of Ixalan metagame wraps up with a number of events online and in paper happening. The hosts talk about the Untap Open online league top 8 results, as well as what happened at a handful of paper tournaments at Hareruya in Tokyo over the last few weeks. Mostly a 'house cleaning' episode as they would say, analyzing results and what cards did well. Good to listen to so you can see which archetypes were powerful and which cards to watch out for in future metagames.

Saturday Sep 14, 2019
The topic of ban lists almost always came up in the Frontier circles. If people like the pros actually played the format, would they break it? Would a ban list be needed to restore order? During the entire time of Frontier's existence, not one card was ever banned. However, should some have been? In this episode, the Frontier podcast crew discusses which bans they think would be necessary in the format, and why. They also talk about leaks from the Dominaria set that happened before the set itself was released.

This type of episode ended up becoming common place whenever a new set came out, especially if it was really hyped like Dominaria was. If anything, it's interesting to see how what they thought was going to happen and then compare it to what actually did.
